What are the NFAA age divisions?

An archer’s age is determined by their actual age on the first day of the tournament. Any archer who has a birthday during a tournament will be allowed to finish the tournament in the age division he/she started in.
For National and Sectional tournaments, as outlined in the NFAA Constitution, NFAA age divisions are the following:

JUNIOR DIVISIONS:

  • CUB (under 12)
  • YOUTH (12-14 years of age)
  • YOUNG ADULT (15-17 years of age)

Junior archers may compete in a higher age division upon written parental request and approval by the NFAA. This request is irreversible and will be applied to all future NFAA National and Sectional tournaments. Click here to view and submit the Parental Authorization Form.

ADULT DIVISIONS:

  • ADULT (18-49 years of age)
  • SENIOR (50-59 years of age)
  • SILVER SENIOR (60-69 years of age)
  • MASTER SENIOR (70+ years of age)

Archers may compete in a lower age division within the adult divisions.

I have a question about a rule or equipment.

Headquarters staff has been advised by the Council and Directors to refer any and all equipment/rules questions to the State NFAA Director. This includes any questions for The Vegas Shoot and The First Dakota Classic.
You can find your state director by visiting our website and clicking on your state.

What events have cash prizes?

All NFAA Foundation tournaments offer payouts for Flight and Championship divisions. This includes the Vegas Shoot, First Dakota Classic, and Rushmore Rumble. Depending on participation, scholarships for junior divisions may be offered as well.
Only archers 15 and older are eligible for cash prizes. Any prize money awarded to archers under 15 will be awarded in the form of scholarships.

I qualify for a payout from a recent NFAA Foundation tournament. How do I get my check?

Typically, payout checks are mailed within one to two weeks after a tournament. Please double-check that your Sport:80 profile displays your current address to avoid delays.

Does the NFAA offer scholarships?

While the NFAA/Easton Scholarship program has not been officially discontinued, most of our scholarships are now being awarded to archers competing in the junior divisions at tournaments such as the Vegas Shoot, First Dakota Classic, and the Rushmore Rumble. Please note that, depending on participation, scholarships for junior divisions may not be offered at all tournaments.
We also award scholarships through the Vegas essay contest.
